Eco-Tec Takes Home Two Business Excellence Awards

October 2011, Pickering, Ontario – It was a special night for design and manufacturing company Eco-Tec Inc. at the annual Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade’s (APBoT) awards dinner. Eco-Tec received two prestigious awards on October 13th – the ‘2011 Business Excellence Award’ in the 50+ employees category and a newly created ‘Global Business Excellence Award’ recognizing the company’s success as a worldwide exporter.

Accepting the APBoT awards for Eco-Tec was CEO and President
Dr. Phillip (Rocky) Simmons. “We’re so proud to be recognized as a manufacturer based entirely in Canada,” said Simmons upon
receiving the awards. “There’s no reason Canadian-based
manufacturers today can’t strive to be the best internationally.”

Given out for the first time by the APBoT, the Global Business Award was presented to Eco-Tec for its ongoing success, since 1970, in providing more than 2,000 industrial purification systems in 58 countries. Headquartered in Pickering, Ontario since 1980, the company prides itself in maintaining all design and manufacturing resources under one roof in Canada, and its ability to attract and retain highly qualified staff from the local area.

“This approach is very uncommon among today’s Canadian-based  manufacturers, but it has been a winning tactic for Eco-Tec,” said 2011 APBoT President Donna McFarlane from Durham College. “It remains a competitor on the world stage in its respective markets and has a commitment to quality, attention to detail, and timely responses to problems, attributes very much appreciated by their clients.”

Among the reasons Eco-Tec picked up the Business Excellence Award is its round-the-clock commitment to customer service and the fortitude to innovate and adapt its technology in response to the demands of new markets. The award also recognized Eco-Tec’s community-support initiatives and its primary goal of promoting more efficient, responsible use of natural resources through the use of its industrial recovery systems.
